October Suggested Activities
Themes: Trees, Fall, Fire Safety
1. Go on a walk with your child. Ask your child what they see in their community. For example: Firehouse, Post Office, etc. You may write down what your child responds in on the following page.
2. Have your child make up a fire escape plan for your family. You may write down what your child says or they can draw a picture of their plan.
3. Go on a leaf hunt. How many leaves did you collect? What color are your leaves? Write down your answers. You can also create a leaf book. Glue your leaves on construction paper and bind to form a book to share findings.
Writing Skills:
1. Practice tracing your name on the attached paper in your notebook. After tracing, please have your child write their name independently one time on each line under the traced name.
2. Practice tracing new vocabulary words related to the month's theme. See attached sheet.
Cutting Skills: ***Remember THUMBS UP***
1. Cut out the squares and glue it on the following page.
Gross Motor Skills:
1. Teach your family how to
STOP, DROP AND ROLL.
Math Skills:
1. Let’s make predictions! Look at an apple. Predict (guess) how many seeds are in the apple. Write down your prediction. Next, cut the apple. How many seeds did the apple have? Write down your answer. Was your prediction correct? Were there more or less seeds than what your predicted?
2. Let’s practice sequencing. Draw or write the sequence of the life cycle of an apple tree.
3. Let’s practice counting to 5. Draw 5 pumpkins. Count out loud and write the number under each pumpkin.
Free Drawing:
1. What do you see in the fall? Please draw a picture on the additional page. Have your child tell you one thing about what they see in the fall and write it under the picture.
